儘管頭兩局就失掉4分，昨役只投3K也是個人本季最低，不過馬林魚王牌投手費南德茲隨後回穩投完7局，7局上面對對手的近身球招呼，更是展現十足霸氣，加上歐蘇納以4分打點力挺，幫助馬林魚以7比5逆轉氣走勇士，與國聯外卡老二大都會的勝差縮至4場，小費也拿下本季第15勝。
「如果你覺得我之前的觸身球是故意的，想要砸我，那就來吧，」費南德茲說：「我不會在意被砸，那是比賽的一部份，但你不能往頭來丟，我是有家庭的。」
小費說的是7局上的衝突，當時勇士右投J.拉米瑞茲面對踏入打擊區的費南德茲，第1球就是往打者頭部後方飛來的95哩速球。小費氣得要衝上投手丘理論，被捕手弗勞爾斯擋住，兩隊板凳球員全部衝入場內，最後拉米瑞茲被主審哈德森驅逐出場。
這次衝突其實在第6局就埋下伏筆，6局上勇士先發右投泰倫對普拉多投出觸身球，下半局小費則在2出局、球數2壞落後的情況下，投出一顆砸到馬凱奇斯肋骨的95哩速球。最後拉米瑞茲也在7局上砸人，終於引爆衝突。
